Selling Treasure
Gems and Jewellery
In most campaign settings, it is not difficult to sell gems, jewellery, and other valuables. Jewellers, antiquarians, nobles, and specialist merchants are likely buyers.
The referee must determine whether a buyer will pay an item’s full value or a percentage of it. For example, a jeweller might pay 80% of an item’s full value.
Magic Items
In most campaign settings, magic items are so valuable that there is effectively no market for them. Prices or monetary values are therefore not listed for the magic items in this book. Characters could of course find a buyer willing to pay a few hundred gp for a suit of plate mail +2, but this is nowhere near its true value.
In some campaign settings, however, there may be a market for magic items. For example, in a setting where alchemy is widespread, certain potions might be available for purchase.
If the referee needs to determine prices of magic items, it is recommended to use the guidelines for magical research. This determines the cost of creating an item. The sale value is likely to be at least double this amount.
